You don't need to be completely precise, but the black band on the Ring must be aimed in the direction of the Switch Cover.

Yes. It will control whichever switch it's placed over. You will not be able to place 2 Switch Covers side by side on the same panel.

Simply pull it away from the wall switch until the magnets release. You will feel some resistance due to the strength of the magnets, which is normal and expected.

Either way! The Switch Covers are designed to work regardless of orientation.
